This season there seems to be a rule of three with the Pirates. Win 3 and then lose the next game unexpectedly. Admittedly Raiders Green had a little bit of help from some ‘retired’ Gold players but they played well and we only had ourselves to blame after some costly overthrows which allowed them back in the game. Our batting was also somewhat under par as only 12 runs were scored- our lowest total since the first game of the season.
It wasn’t all negative- the pitch and weather were excellent but more important Gideon showed great spirit to come back from a ball in the head two weeks ago to take two fantastic catches in the outfield, earning him the best defensive award. He also shared the MVP award with Alice who had her best game at bat, hitting 0.750 including a HUGE hit that allowed her to take third base. As Nadine once pointed out a girl hitting third is the equivalent of a guy hitting a homer!
We finished up the evening in a nice pub up the road with both teams coming together to talk about softball and a few other things.
