Pirates undo the Voodoos at Wandsworth Common

So the Grudge match of the season is over with the Voodoos drifting towards relegation. One can only hope that Tigers and the Kamis can pull off a win to send them back to Minors 3 but it’s all going to come down to the last game of the season. Meanwhile the Pirates are almost guaranteed 3rd place assuming that Heat do not win their next 5 games including a possible forfeit from us. That would certainly be a travesty of justice.

Last night saw the Pirates take a storming leading of 12-2 into the 5th innings followed by another worrying batting collapse with only 1 run in the next 2 innings. Thanks largely to a change in pitcher the Voodoos fought back in the 5th and 6th where they picked up 9 runs and also managed a double play against us. That being said we lead the game from beginning to end and saw great batting performances from Gids, Chris, Alice and especially Marines who picked up MVP for the first time in the season. Paul’s diving stop at first saw off fierce opposition for best defensive play and Shaz picked up the Bola Award for being tripped by the Voodoo short stop running from 2nd to 3rd base.

It certainly wasn’t the best game we’ve played but the ghost of our defeat to them has been laid to rest.

Marines wins MVP!
